Planumbus is an integrated system based on the act of giving pocket money, designed to help children organise their material wishes and understand the conceptual value of money and to help parents monitor kids’ choices. It consists of three connected parts: a smart piggy bank prototyped with Arduino to count money and give light feedbacks; a smartphone app for parents; a tablet app for kids. Every touchpoint that involves the kid was designed keeping in mind a storytelling in which the piggy bank becomes a portal for a planet called Planumbus inhabited by the Numbi, a population that needs to satisfy wishes to be happy using the Eolium, a narrative substitute for the money that the kid saves.
